What We Grow

We grow color. We grow food. We grow medicine. We grow resilience.

Everything at Sunny Joy Farm starts the same way: a seed, a little water, and time we don't rush.

We grow young people who are learning what it feels like to be trusted with something living. None of it happens separately — the same beds that hold madder and indigo also hold the lessons our youth carry into the rest of their lives, and the same hands that harvest dye flowers pack produce for a neighbor they may meet at a community dinner with one of our collaborators. Here's what's rooted in our ground right now.

❋ Dye Plants

Indigo, madder, coreopsis, hollyhock — the living plants at the heart of our color. Each one is grown to be harvested and asked, patiently, to give up its pigment.

❋ Food Four Our Neighbors

Through the Humble Harvest Project, youth grow fresh food in eight right-sized beds and share it with neighbors through 1st Phoenix Community Center's no-barrier pantry. Enough food, grown with care, for whoever needs it.

❋ Plants for Printing

Some of our richest prints come from trees that were already here. Walnut, oak, eucalyptus, and sumac leaves are pressed and printed straight from the branch to the cloth.

❋ Dye Plant Seeds

Our Original Dyer's Garden Seed Kit is a starting palette for growing color at home — six plants, one bed, a full season of blues through golds.

This itinerary embodies our expertise, aligning each session with measurable outcomes that optimize engagement, facilitate collaboration, and sustain momentum for continuous improvement.
