FAQ
Can my child attend?
Children 10-15 are welcome to attend with an adult. Youth 15 and older do not need to be accompanied by an adult. Contact me directly for special youth rates.
What kind of garment can I bring?
The process I am teaching is only effective with natural fiber clothing. Check the tag in your garment for the fiber content. It must be at least 80% natural fiber, with 100% being best. Natural fibers include: Cotton, Linen, Bamboo, Hemp, Modal, Wool and Silk. If there isn’t an identifying tag, there is a risk of the color not taking.
What if the garment I want to bring has a stain?
Stains that are from dirt and are light are covered well with natural dye. Oil stains will not be covered well.
How much can I dye in the class?
Natural dye materials, in general, are equal weight plant matter to target fabric. You may bring one garment the equivalent to a shirt or pair of light pants. We will weigh our garments in class 1 and measure out our plant material accordingly. I recommend dyeing heavy fabrics such as sweatpants and sweatshirts on your own after you’ve learned the process, or scheduling a 1:1 with me.
