Mushroom Dyeing Class 2024

Learn the basics of dying with an indigo vat. You will learn how to prepare an indigo dye vat with the banana fructose method. Together, we will dip dye a bandana in the shibori style and dye a skein of yarn. You will be provided with a bandana and a skein of yarn to dye in the class.

Learn the whole process of naturally dying fabric in this 3 part series. This is the most comprehensive class if you’d like to learn to naturally dye at home. Bring your own natural fiber garment for a color refresh. We will work with Cochineal bugs for magenta, pink, red or purple.

You will learn how to scour your garment, pre-mordant for good adherence of color, extract cochineal insects for a dye vat, submersion dye and how to modify the pH for the colors in the range of red to purple.
